Autumn Foal

The inspiration for this painting of a mare and her foal came on a painting trip to Sardinia. I spotted this tranquil scene in a wild meadow with a mare and her foal foraging amongst old olive trees.

It was springtime but I painted it in the russet colours of autumn with a mix of oil paint and copic pen.
