‘Oceans’ Meadow’ was inspired by a trip to the Camarque in France, a most beautiful ecosystem and landscape where the briny marshland is fed from the sea. The resident ponies are similar to our Connemara ponies, short in height approx 12/13 hands and very strong and tough.

I painted in a limited palette using umbers, ochre’s, viridian greens and paynes grey, and cool blues for shadow on the animals. This gives a very atmospheric contrast between the russet colours of the foliage and the blues of the marsh land.
