In pastels and poetry, Grief's Dark Seed and Hope's Blossom charts Trish Findlater’s emergence from paralysing grief following the death of her beloved husband, Alex.
Trish found solace in the beautiful garden she and Alex created in the grounds of their home, Gleninna House, in County Mayo. Painting the garden in all its seasons – stark winter, exuberant spring, the stately glory of summer and the inevitable decay of autumn – helped her to rediscover the joie de vivre she had shared with her husband.
This book is a tribute to his passionate joy in the cycle of life and death which is at the core of gardening, and at the core of all our lives. It is a moving testimony to grieving and the resurgence of believing in life.
You can preview all the artwork that will be exhibited on the day here in the gallery

Over the past few months I've been working closely with web / graphic designer Sheena Oosten to develop our digital strategy and create a website which offers a simple, intuitive user experience. I wanted a site that would not only be a space to display my work to the public, but also allow others to purchase a piece of it. Our main focus was to remove the previous complexity of the old site and create a new one that was clean, minimal, straight forward to navigate and adequately categorised every item for a much better user experience.
I hope to write more regular blog posts about various topics, so why not join my email list below and you'll never have to miss one again? It will be delivered directly to your inbox as soon as it's published. You might even get the odd secret special offer.
Thanks for reading...

We were lucky enough to experience the holiday-of-a-lifetime on Horse Safari at Kujwana and Mokolwane Camps in the vast and sparsely populated Okavanga Delta in Botswana. This was followed with five days Tigerfish fishing in Nxameseri, at a remote location on the Okavanga River. Both were beyond our wildest dreams.
Our holiday was superbly arranged by ‘Zara’s Planet’ who organises amazing equestrian adventures worldwide. This must be amongst her best. Here we were in the savannah on horseback amongst truly wild animals in contrast to safaris in jeeps, viewing animals’ accustomed to the presence of homo-sapiens.
One of our abiding memories is swimming on our horses, bareback, lead out into the deep water by our guide Rodgers, the sound of the horses snorting and exertion as they swim along the hippo highway to Mokolwane camp.
The friendly guides are all graduates of the Guiding School and have an encyclopaedic knowledge of the wild life, the countryside and all that survive in these arid conditions. They are ably supported by a team of grooms, stable boys, catering staff and of course the house management.
We had such a memorable and wonderful experience, that I decided to depict our adventures through various snapshot paintings and have chronicled in a collection of those into a book I've published "Echoes of Okavango" - an unforgettable horse safari and fishing experience.
Why not preview the book here for yourself.
